About the Partnership

The St. Louis Regional Partnership for Electronics Recovery was formed in 2002 as a result of a grant issued by the St. Louis-Jefferson Solid Waste Management District. The purpose of the grant was to develop a regional consumer electronics collection program that would offer a convenient and cost-effective program throughout the region year-round.

The grant was issued to the Saint Louis County Department of Health Solid Waste Management Program. The Department joined together with the following co-sponsors to develop the program:

A critical task of the Partnership has been to secure host sites throughout the region to collect and properly dispose of used consumer electronics from residential consumers. The Partnership also established a set of criteria for these host sites to meet in order to ensure that the electronics are managed in an environmentally safe manner. The co-sponsors will continue to monitor the locations and investigate additional options to increase the number of collections and recycling of unwanted electronics.
